I guess it has something to do with my age (old dog and new tricks and all that) or maybe it's because I'm pretty busy nowadays (since when have I not been busy?) but I am not so appreciative of new music nowadays.

I tend to stick to the soundtrack of my youth.

So wonder of all wonders when I came across this video by Timbaland featuring One Republic called Apologize and ended up liking it.

I love the imagery they used for the music video and the music itself, of course.

This song has been circulating for quite some time now so most of the younger set out there have already cottoned on to this monster hit way back.

Sky and Earth

I was on a trip recently to Binalonan, Pangasinan for an outreach program and some business related matters.

It's nice being away from the metro every now and then and just head on up to the countryside.

Usually, when that happens, I go south to Laguna or Batangas.

It's been some time since I went up north and I must say it's quite a refreshing change to see clear skies and well-tilled earth than asphalt and concrete.

I grew up in the country, you see.

I spent my early childhood in Bacolod then the rest of it in Batangas, hence my affinity for the rural area.

Happy Birthday, Johnny!

I'd like to take this opportunity to greet one of my closest friend, Johnny Danganan a happy birthday!

Johnny and I have been friends since college.

I was part of a volunteer group as a peer counselor that was dedicated to helping freshmen students adjust to college life. Johnny’s block was assigned to me and that’s where I met him. He's one of my trusted comrades.

After his first semester our paths crossed again on the local Booksale shop where we both got our comic book fix. We've been through thick and thin throughout the years and is one of the few people I can trust to cover my back and call my friend.

Happy birthday!

Elevator Contemplation

I know that a lot of buildings don't have a 13th floor because it is considered unlucky, hence most elevators also don't have 13 on their dials.

As I was coming home from a late night dinner with friends, I noticed that the elevator in the condominium building I live in didn't have the number 14 on it's dial aside from the number 13.

As you can see from the photograph on the left, from the number 12 the dial skips all the way to number 15.

As Star Trek's Mr. Spock would say, "fascinating".

Suddenly made me wonder why the 14th floor should be missing.

A New Bookshelf

I've been trying to get my stuff organized, quite unsuccessfully I might add, the past few weeks particularly my books.

I've always loved books and despite having little time to read nowadays I still find myself snapping up one or two whenever I pass by a book store telling myself that I'll get to read it when I find more time.

I never really thought much about it until the day I tried to fit all my books on my small bookshelf. The shelf is now full and overflowing and there's still a ton of stuff lying on the floor.

Looks like I have to get a bigger bookshelf now.

Vote for Camy

Camy Francisco, a good friend of mine, recently joined the "Be the Face of VAIO" contest.

She's currently competing to represent the Sony VAIO Black C Series. Part of the deciding factor on who's going to win will be determined through online voting.

I'd really appreciate it (and Camy will too) if you vote for her and help her win the contest.

You can vote for Camy here.

You can find out more about the contest in general and get to meet the other candidates here.

Feel free to repost this on your own respective blogs and help spread the word.

Garlic Boy

Saw this in a convention center during my trip to Korea.

One look at it and several things go through my head at the same time. One being "it looks like a very fun movie to watch" and the other being "it's like Boy Bawang...the movie".

Of course, if you even suggest the concept of a Boy Bawang movie here, chances are it won't be taken seriously...if at all.

Anyway, this made me realize that we Filipinos are sitting on a virtual mountain of original ideas but we never really take advantage of it. We either try to put it down or stick to the tried and tested formula which usually means the same old boring thing we've seen over and over again.

Just take a look at our movies and you'll know what I mean. Sometimes it makes me wonder if piracy is really the culprit why our movie industry is in the doldrums or is it the lack of compelling material.

If there's one thing I know, it's that original content is the future.

Check out my Other Blogs!

The Webcomic Republic is a blog that collects, or rather is in the process of, collecting all the webcomics I’ve written and drawn over the years while Multiple Exposure is my photography blog.

I'm actually a bit hesitant to call it my photography blog since I only use a camera phone to take pictures but what the hey. Given the proper conditions and some tweaking on Adobe Photoshop and it's just as good as any old point and shoot.

Anyway, I hope you guys can check them out and help me spread the word.
